For the past few days I have been in Washington, DC and running here is amazing! I am staying near all of the attractions, which has allowed me to run by the White House, Lincoln Memorial, Washington Monument, National Mall, and the Capitol Building. Not only is it a wonderful experience to casually run by these important American structures, the DC running community is quite inspiring. There are runners everywhere always! It's hard to consider not running when you see this many people always running.
We obviously chose to go for our runs early in the morning, which means fewer tourists out and about. We had all the monuments to ourselves for (mostly) tourist free pictures. Our loop consisted of starting near the White House, heading over to the Lincoln Memorial, back by the Washington Monument, to the Capitol Building along the National Mall, and back to the White House.
While Linda and I were running on Saturday we saw someone from afar wearing a November Project jacket. Having on multiple occasions discussed trying the hit November Project workouts in Boston, we decided to approach this individual, Steve, to talk about the DC November Project. He ended up being the co-leader of November Project DC! Steve encouraged us to attend the Monday 6:30am workout at the Capitol Building. Not really knowing what to expect, we immediately said we would (and we did!) join him at the Monday workout. Stay tuned for more on this!
